Tamaraw Down Falcons

In the first game of the season, FEU Tamaraws got its first win as sophomore Jens Knuttel buried a triple with 16.1 seconds left to lift the Tamaraws past the Adamson Falcons, 74-71.

With the Tamaras trailing 70-71, Mark Barroca drove and passed out to an open Knuttel for the triple. The triple was Knuttel’s first field goal in the game.

"He’s really quarterbacking for us, his offense is secondary," said FEU coach Glenn Capacio of the 18-year-old Filipino-German. "What’s impressive is at a young age, he’s already showing his leadership."
We’re lucky that we were able to execute in the last minute," said Capacio.

Reil Cervantes spearheaded FEU with 15 points and six rebounds, while Barroca chipped in 12 points. Marc Baracael contributed only four points but was able to make a crucial tip in during the last few minutes of the game.

The Falcons, whose coach Leo Austria is back after a one-year absence, had a chance to increase their 71-70 lead, but Colina missed two free throws with only 20 seconds remaining.
